W Med Spa Newport Beach directed by Dr. Garrett A. Wirth and his team has been a sought-after facility for Botox cosmetic injections. BOTOX® falls into a category of “neurotoxins” as is currently the preferred product in this category at W Med Spa Newport Beach. If you are looking for that "World Famous Southern California Newport Beach look and feel" ™, then BOTOX® may be right for you.
Those fine lines and wrinkles that appear over time are a result of repeated facial movements causing the skin to crease as well as the decreased collagen and elastin fibers in the skin which allow the wrinkles to show and remain. Modern anti-aging treatments are employed by the expert team members at W Med Spa Newport Beach including Botox to help you reach your goals of a more youthful look. We are often asked by patients if Botox and fillers are the same. The answer is no. This is a completely different product and mechanism of action than the fillers such as Juvéderm®, but we find that they often work as a great combination of injectables to refine and refresh the look of the face.
While these injections are often utilized to treat the look of an aging face, we find that many people visit us and benefit from prevention of wrinkle formation with BOTOX® injections. We like to discuss this as PREjuvenation (PREvention-reJUVENATION)

How Does it Work?
The injection of BOTOX® into areas of unwanted lines and muscle activity helps in blocking the nerve signals from reaching the muscles. This helps minimize the ability of these muscles from contract, resulting in relaxation and softening of wrinkles and fine lines. Over time, prevention of the wrinkles from worsening can help allow the skin to remodel as well!
There are generally no to minimal after-effects associated with BOTOX®, aside from the possibilities of mild pain at injection site, bruising or redness. There are some reported severe complications that can be reviewed during your consultation. Nevertheless, patients are advised to avoid alcohol consumption and we also feel it is best to stay upright (or not lay flat) for the first few hours following the treatment.
How Long Does the Treatment Last?
The results of a BOTOX® treatment are temporary, and it normally becomes significantly visible within 7-14 days and lasts for about 3-4 months. While the onset of activity can be faster for some people, we generally feel you will have your results showing fully around 1 week after treatment. The effects of the treatment can be renewed through a maintenance treatment scheduled with our team of professionals at
W Med Spa Newport Beach every few months.
